SLE

INTRODUCTION:

SLE is one of the autoimmune disorders that occur when body’s immune system attacks its own tissues and organs. Systemic lupus erythematosus is a chronic disease which causes inflammation in the connective tissues, such as cartilages and the linings of the blood vessels.

It involves many organs and systems, including skin, joints, kidney, lungs, central nervous system.

The term lupus is used to represent a number of immune diseases that have similar clinical presentations and laboratory features.

Signs and symptoms of SLE vary among affected individuals.

Patients with SLE have certain episodes in which the condition gets worse and at certain times, it gets better.
